Edutek instrumentation range of small scale chemical reactors comprises four units which represent the most common types of chemical reactor found in industry.
This is a reactor system specially designed to perform batch enzyme reaction utilizing the glucose isomerisation reaction catalyze by glucose isomerase. The unit is used to demonstrate batch enzyme kinetics and enzyme characteristics.
The fourth reactor - stirred tank reactor in series - is mounted on a dedicated unit.
The reactors use the saponification reaction between ethyl acetate and sodium hydroxide. This provides a well understood and safe reaction for the students to investigate the different reactor types.
Edutek have developed a set of algorithms which link the degree of conversions of the reactants to the electrical conductivity of the product. In this way the progress of the reaction can be monitored in real time, without the inconvenience and innaccuracy of titration methods.

Transmission line simulator with protection system consists of a miniature transmission line arranged to represent 3 phase AC long transmission line having ACSR conductors 37/0.146 with spacing 6.7 meters to transmit the power of 90 MW at 0.9 p.f.
The panel consists of t he following:
Auto Transformer (01 nos): Single phase.
Single Phase Transformer (St non): 1 KVA, 110V /220 V, 50 Hz. with equivalent Xe = 0.04 Henry at Sending End.
Single Phase Transformer (01 nos): 1 KVA, 220V /220 V with equivalent Xe = 0.44 Henry at Receiving End. Both transformers erect good regulation quality.
Single Phase Inductive Load: 220V, 5A arranged R & L with C in parallel (01 Non) to operated at 0.9 lag P.F.
Transmission Line: Arranged in 3 phases separately to represent a line, 80 km to 400 km long with R, L and C divided in 5 sections with short circuiting switch or solid plug key for each section. Complete system with auto transformers. ON/OFF contractors, voltmeters, ammeters & watt meter along wIth load to be arranged on panel to study the performance of T.L. for one phase under various conditions. The send ng end voltage on the simulator is 220 V 50 Hz single phase so that if full load transmission is 100 MVA, that of the equivalent musculature system will be 0.872 KVA.
Variable Speed Drive (Cl non) To be used as ON/OFF restricting phenomena when T.L is to be investigated for 'OVER VOLTAGES DUE TO RESTRIKING'.
Graded Over Current Protect on: By using STATIC/INDUCTION TYPE OVER CURRENT RELAY mounted on panel with terminals of T.L. brought out for connections and arranging graded over current protect on with three static relays in three sections.

Arranged by Induction Type/Static Type Relay by Time Relay dividing the complete T.L in three sections. Suitable tap points are provided with fault creating ON / OFF Switches for study of protection schemes arranged as above one at a time.

Modes of operation:
The oil is heated under vacuum using direct steam to provide the agitation for good heat transfer. When the desired pressure and temperature are achieved, the direct steam injection is adjusted to impart a high degree of turbulence to the oil, ensuring good physical contact of the steam with the oil. The impurities are carried over in the steam and condensed in the vacuum condenser, the resulting condensate blending with the vacuum pump sealant to be discharged to drain.
After deodorisation, the oil refining process is complete. The oil must therefore be free of any contaminants. For this, it is pumped through a polishing filter which removes those particles, giving a bright oil as product.
