  • This is a hydraulic, electrically operated unit, designed for conducting compression tests on concrete specimens up to 20 cm. Diameter (or width and depth) and 30 cm, in height and also rocks and various other materials. Cold Crushing Strength (CCS) test is also possible.
  • The machine consists of a steel cross head and cast iron base with two pillars connecting the base and cross head by means of nuts. The hydraulic jack is fixed to the base. The upper platen has got a self aligning action and is attached to a screw which passes through the cross head and can be raised or lowered for initial clearance adjustment. The lower platen rests on the jack ram and is positioned with the help of a centering pin.
  • Loading is accomplished by the upward movement of the with the help of a centering pin. Loading is accomplished by the upward movement of the motorized pumping unit is of plunger type and is connected to the jack by means of a steel connecting tube.
  • A maximum red pointer is provided to facilitate taking of the readings after failure of specimens. The pressure gauges of 20 cm diameter with isolating valves are fixed on the pumping unit at an angle for easy readability..
  • The machine is fitted with control which enables the rate of application of load to be varied. The machine is equipped with facilities for hand operation as well.
  • The electrical pumping unit is fitted with three micro switches one for each pressure gauge and will switch off the machine automatically as the load on the machine approaches its full capacity of the gauge in case the isolating valves are not operated. This will protect the pressure gauges and the whole unit so that in case of break down of power supply, the machine will stop and will not restart unless the starting switch is operated.
  • The machine satisfies the essential specifications of Indian Standard No. 516-1959. For operation on415 Volts, 3-ph or 230 Volts, 1-ph A.C.

The machine is operated by hydraulic transmission of load from the test piece to a load indicator. Load is applied by a hydrostatically lubricated ram. Main cylinder pressure is transmitted to the cylinder of the pendulum dynamometer system. The load transmitted to the cylinder of the dynamometer is transferred through a lever system to a pendulum. Displacement of the pendulum actuates the rack and pinion mechanism which operates the load indicator pointer and recorder unit. The deflection of the pendulum represents the true load applied on the test-piece.

One of the durability test of concrete is to determine permeability of water through specimen. Permeability apparatus is used for determining the permeability of cement mortar and concrete specimens of 15cm cubes cast in the laboratory. Specification :The concrete permeability apparatus comprises of a brass / gunmetal cell of Square/Round cross-section mounted on a stand and a pressure chamber is connected to the cell through copper tubing and T-connector mounted on the stand with sleeve packed valve and rubber hose pipe with end connections. The cell assembly consists of one base plate, one metal funnel and one top plate. The pressure chamber is fitted with a pressure regulator which helps in regulating the pressure from 0-15kg/cm sq. Gauge is for indicating the pressure in the cell. A foot pump and a pressure tube is supplied to develop pressure in the chamber. The apparatus is supplied with a measuring cylinder 500cc to measure percolated quantity to water. Pressure can also be applied; by a pressure air line or by a compressor which can be supplied at an extra cost.

Heat Deflection Temperature Tester -The Heat Deflection Temperature of plastic materials is the temperature at which the material deflects by a specified amount under the action of a specified stress. It is determined by supporting a rectangular test specimen over two cylindrical edged blocks and pressing it at the center of the supported span through a cylindrical edged loading tip. The machine consists of a hand frame. The lower platen has two rollers the distance between which is adjustable For 150 mm x 150 mm x 700 mm beam, the centre distance between rollers is 600 mm, while it is 400 mm for beams of size 100mm x 100mm x500mm.
